It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
