Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car P3, over half a second off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
