The tournament joins the American and Aussie Opens in employing replay systems.
Video review systems will be launched at The Championships for the 2025 edition.
Players will gain the right to question specific decisions made by the official, echoing the protocol already in use at each of the American Grand Slam and the Australian Open.
This technology will be operational on Centre Court and Court One throughout the Championships and on the remaining featured courts when they are staging singles matches.
This development arrives only a year after the All England Club implemented ELC, which terminated the longstanding role of line judges.
What Can Be Reviewed?
Competitors will not be permitted to dispute the accuracy of the ELC system, but are allowed to ask for the official to review specific situations, such as:
- Whether a tennis ball has double-bounced.
- Whether a shot touched an opponent's racquet or body during play.
- Potential interference at the conclusion of a rally.
Notably, there is no limit on the amount of reviews a competitor can ask for.
Practical Application
An illustrative example occurred in a recent tournament recently, where Daniil Medvedev used the review system against his opponent.
Draper conceded it was a difficult call for the official, but believed his rival had "played the rules quite well."
The umpire viewed a video and determined Draper was guilty of hindrance, granting the point to Medvedev.
Broader Adoption
Video reviews aren't exclusive to major tournaments. The system has been in use at the American major since 2023 and the Aussie Open this year.
Furthermore, it is becoming more common on the WTA circuit, and by next season the men's ATP Tour plans to have video reviews implemented at every one of its events.
Other Changes
Another innovation at Wimbledon 2025 involves the introduction of graphical cues on displays to support the audio calls from the ELC system.
This addresses instances where spectators have occasionally been uncertain whether a ball was out or in.
Finally, with precisely a century of days remaining until the beginning of the Championships, the AELTC have also announced an expansion in daily capacity at the qualifiers in Roehampton.
